ABOUT YUXUAN
Yuxuan is a young aspiring event rider, representing Hong Kong and competing up to international 4* level. He currently bases in Wiltshire with his string of horses at varying levels, alongside his freelance riding and training work. Aside from multiple placings at international FEI competitions, his best achievements over the last few years include winning the team silver medal at the Asian Equestrian Championships 2019, and winning the individual bronze medal at the Asian Eventing Championships in 2017.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Yuxuan had an upbringing that was active and sporty, albeit one that wasn't horse-orientated. He sat on a pony for the first time at age seven as part of a summer camp, and gradually developed an interest and involvement in horses. As he spent more time riding and working with horses, his passion for equestrian sport grew, and he began to take part in local shows and competitions.
Yuxuan was a part of Hong Kong's junior equestrian team in 2012, during which time he gained invaluable experience training and competing ex-racehorses, that he and his family worked with. His father was - and continues to be - his biggest supporter, driving him to and from the stables every day, and to every show. Shortly after completing secondary school, Yuxuan spent just under a year under the tutelage of Australian showjumping trainer Clive Reed, whom he worked for as rider and pupil.
Yuxuan first started working with Howard Green, who has since become his most supportive backer and owner, when he was offered horses to begin eventing in the UK with; this was also when he was introduced to trainers Tanya and Mark Kyle at Queenholme Equestrian, who Howard had already worked with for many years. With these horses and support, Yuxuan completed his first eventing season in the UK in 2017 - the same year he began his university degree in philosophy at King's College London.
At the end of 2017, Yuxuan flew the Hong Kong flag at the Asian Eventing Championships in Thailand with the 11-year old mare Diva De Lux, where he won the individual bronze medal. Since then, he has continued to compete in national and international events in the UK and Europe, and was selected onto Team Hong Kong aboard Diva De Lux to compete at the Asian Games 2018, followed by a silver medal performance at the Asian Equestrian Championships 2019. Aside from the aforementioned trainers, Yuxuan has spent time working for and training with some of the best in the world, including Steven and Trevor Smith, Richard Waygood, and Gary Parsonage. Yuxuan continues to grow his performance and presence in the sport, and has his sights firmly set on future major championships such as the Olympic Games and WEG. He is always looking to expand his team and string of horses, and welcomes anyone to contact him regarding horse ownership and sponsorships.
